A shopkeeper at the Doncaster Christmas Market spoke out after the event was called Britain’s worst.
Hundreds of people from across the country attended the event held privately at the Parklands Club on Wheatley Hall Road earlier this week.
Instead of a magical experience in the city of South Yorkshire, a guest said that it “turns out to be a flea market” in the center of Doncaster.

This was not the only criticism encountered by the event along with others left “speechless” during the event which has even been described as “a waste of time”.
An unimpressed visitor said: “What a scam. Yesterday hundreds of people in central Doncaster looking for the ‘Doncaster Night Christmas Market’, including us.
“A lot of people travel long distances to Bedford, Hull, Rotherham, Leeds and Bradford for what? This is a flea market at the Parklands Club on Wheatley Hall Road, so much the worse for the ‘center of Doncaster “.
A second person said: “It was absolutely amazing. I was speechless and stunned. Absolutely appalling that it could have been advertised as a Christmas market and linked to Doncaster, terrible ”
A third added: “I literally went around 12 noon yesterday. It took us a while to find it, not even the GPS picked it up.
“Thousands of people were interested, so I figured it would be nice. But it took us less than 10 minutes to look around. There was nothing to do with Christmas there. even worse than the regular market in downtown Doncaster! It was full of false advertising.
“It said there would be rides and food stalls etc but there was nothing but cheap clothes and bags. Absolutely pathetic and a big waste of time. immediately shared with a bad review to keep someone else from wasting their time. “
However, market trader Rob Woollaston said most traders enjoyed the event after the huge backlash.
Rob from Derby said: “As a dealer I have had one of the best days I have had this year so far, so honestly. I think most of the merchants liked it.
“I tried to light our stands with the electricity which was provided to us for part of the cost. We were advised to bring our own lights for our stands which was helpful. Angie was very helpful before, during and after the event
“None of my makeup is fake. All items are genuine. And the watches are all from old Burtons Topshop stores, etc. Lots of happy customers yesterday, happy with the bargains.”
