GPS candidate in Piasau uses his ‘time for me’ to engage voters on social media

MIRI: Taking Daily Morning Walks is a Routine for Gabungan Party Candidate Sarawak (GPS) Datuk Sebastian Ting (Photo), who in addition to taking an initiative to stay in shape, uses this “time for me” to engage with his constituents via social media.

Since campaign fitness is banned in urban constituencies such as Piasau, Ting has interacted with his constituents by making “live” updates on Facebook, including on his walks.

The 66-year-old said his morning exercise routine was a good opportunity for him to connect with the local community.

“To connect with the folks at Miri, I’m going for a walk for 40 minutes in the morning and in doing so, I’ll be doing a live broadcast on my Facebook.

“I will answer questions and chat with those watching,” he said on Wednesday (December 8).

Ting, who is the secretary general of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), said his plan was to continue bringing development to Piasau and to fight for educational opportunities for children.

Improving family health and providing affordable housing would also continue to be her priority.

Ting faces a five-way fight with Sarawak Party candidate Bersatu Teo Jia Jun, Hanim Jaree of the Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party; Chung Siew Yen from the Bumi Kenyalang Party and Peter Hee from the DAP.
