JD(S) Kashempur chief seeks Town Panchayat status for two GPs

Bangalore, March 22: Janata Dal (S), deputy leader of the assembly and MP for Bidar South, Bandeppa Kashempur, demanded that the panchayats of Kamathana and Mannaekhelli grama be transformed into city panchayats.

Speaking to the Assembly on Friday, March 25, the JD(S) leader pointed out that six grama panchayats in the Assembly constituency of Bidar South were eligible to be upgraded to city panchayats. Apart from Kamathana and Mannaekhelli, the grama panchayats of Mannalli, Nirna, Bagadal, Bemalakheda had all the requirements to become city panchayts, he said.

Kashempur said the state government has already admitted that the Kamathana in Bidar taluk and the Manaekhelli in Chitaguppa taluk fulfill the criteria to become city panchayats, and urged the government to take immediate action. to answer the question.

The JD(S) member said Bidar South Constituency does not even have a single town panchayat or taluk seat which is an injustice to the people.

Urban Development Minister MTB Nagaraju said Kamathana and Mannaekhelli grama panchayats meet the criteria. However, Bidar Deputy Commissioner has not sent any proposal so far and promised to accept the request as soon as official proposals to transform not only two but grama panchayats in Bidar South constituency into city panchayats .
