PowaKaddy CT8 GPS Electric Cart Review

PowaKaddy’s CT8 GPS electric cart is the world’s smallest touchscreen GPS cart and is proof that modern, compact golf carts can also be packed with features.

As we are now familiar with on-board GPS systems in electric carts, the CT8 GPS offers one of the largest touchscreen GPS displays despite its compact chassis size. The 3.5” color screen is the largest ever fitted to a PowaKaddy cart and it’s also one of the most responsive we’ve used. Pleasantly, it works well in the rain and in bright conditions and the touchscreen even works with a golf glove, which is very pleasant to the touch.

The GPS system is powerful and offers golfers 40,000 courses preloaded on the device while updates can be made through seamless Bluetooth connectivity with the app. It provides precise and fast distances to the front, back and middle of the greens and the Drop Pin functions allow even more precise distances to the exact location of the pin. Other features such as automatic hole detection and a digital scorecard make this GPS a benchmark in the golf cart market.

While benefiting from a powerful GPS system, the CT8 comes in one of the most compact and easy to use chassis available. It weighs less than 10 kg, which is certainly considered light in this market and uses a two-fold system that allows the CT8 to fold up and down easily in moments.

It now folds 20% smaller than the previous C2i model and 35% smaller than its nearest competitor in the compact electric cart market. Once you learn how the folding system works, you will quickly become a master at quickly assembling and folding the CT8 GPS. In addition, it stands on its own vertically, which makes it even easier to store it in the trunk of a car. Our only issue is that you have to use an Alan wrench to adjust the height of the grip and it’s not something you can do quickly when you’re on the course.

The Plug ‘n’ Play battery is also very small and light and can barely be seen once inside the chassis. The days of lead acid batteries are long gone and PowaKaddy is one of the best manufacturers when it comes to small and reliable lithium cart batteries. It’s also one of the best looking golf carts, especially in the all-black colorway. For us, its low-profile design looks great on the course and allows for quiet travel even on the hilliest courses.
