The second-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer was unveiled with a bold new look, revised powertrain lineup and a host of upgraded technologies.
It’s available to order now in the UK ahead of deliveries to customers start in March 2022, with prices starting at £ 30,265.
It continues to be linked to the 2 Series Coupé – which was recently renewed – only in name and style, retaining the front-wheel drive FAAR architecture also used by the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW X1 and Mini. Countryman. But an interior and exterior redesign brings it into line with its new namesake.
The outgoing car’s most obvious differentiator is the oversized front grille, which houses the radar sensor for some of the new advanced driver assistance functions and an active air shutter for improved aerodynamics.
It is further marked by a new headlight design, redesigned side pleats and slimmer rear light clusters. It is also slightly larger than before, with a length of 32mm, a width of 24mm and a height of 21mm. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,670mm, but the wheels have been pushed back 25mm on the front axle and 26mm on the rear.
The most significant changes, however, are found in the interior, where the MPV is supposed to take inspiration from BMW’s new flagship electric car, the iX SUV.
A new one-piece curved display houses the 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and 10.7-inch touchscreen, which runs BMW’s latest eighth-generation iDrive infotainment system. The smartphone-style interface is used for the majority of on-board controls, replacing many of the old car’s buttons and switches, and can be customized to provide quick access to commonly used functions or to suit different driving situations. .
